January's Programs

Kickoff event of ICF's 20th Anniversary Year!

About As coaches we all want our clients to flourish and grow. We see that they often make great efforts to deal with the unavoidable challenges that occur on the path to success. Sometimes they waste energy. Sometimes they give up altogether. How can we help them through their difficulties so that they attain success with ease? Whether as coaches or clients, we all naturally encounter difficulty when we start out for whatever is important to us.  It’s called “trouble at the border.” Discover not only why this phenomenon is inevitable, but more importantly how to help clients to keep going with clarity, focus, ease and grace. Uncover ways to “normalize” this experience so that coaching takes place effortlessly, both for the coach and the client.  Here you will see some powerful principles that will help you to encourage your clients to move past their self-imposed limits into living the life they were meant to live.

This teleclass will introduce coaches to innovative strategies for partnering with clients in ways that bring out natural creativity and effectiveness.

What you can expect from this workshop:
  • Learn how to talk with clients about how to attain worthwhile goals.
  • Discover how to work with your client’s self-limiting internal dialogues so that these dialogues no longer stop them.
  • Discover a coaching tool that will show your client what is most important to them.
  • Learn specific strategies to uncover the self-limiting internal conversations and move your clients beyond their customary limits.

The core principles Dr. Nemeth teaches are based on more than thirty years of tested personal research, along with developing and leading hundreds of successful seminars and workshops. Her lectures are an outgrowth of her extensive background as a licensed clinical psychologist. She has served as a professor in the University of California (UC) system, as well as a director of clinical programs assisting alcohol and substance abuse clients. She has twenty years experience in coaching and counseling individuals and groups in state and federal agencies, profit and nonprofit corporate settings, as well as coaching and counseling individuals.

She has authored many articles and three successful books, including The Energy of Money for which she was featured on Oprah. Maria’s writing works to bring about powerful results and make significant, lasting contributions. Her newest book, Mastering Life’s Energies: Simple Steps to a Luminous Life at Work and Play, is written with the intent to make these principles widely available.

This is yet another opportunity to share your expertise and build your client base, and it's one of the exciting benefits of being an ICF Houston Chapter Member. Since 2011, ICF Houston has supported several area professional organizations with our Coaches Corner project. Coaches Corner offers attendees an opportunity to experience a 30 minute complimentary session from one of our fabulous coaching professionals.

What do attendees say about these sessions?
  • I received help with focusing on my priorities
  • It was a positive and actionable discussion
  • After hearing myself talk, I started hearing themes that she helped me define and clarify.
  • It was a chance to answer questions I never thought about wanting for myself

Message from our President

How does one measure the pride people feel for their professional organization?  I see it when our community gathers together each month for learning, networking, and support.  I feel and experience it in the spirit of commitment, volunteerism, and collaboration that exists amongst our talented board, and committees, and members who work tirelessly to create and implement the ICF Houston Chapter experience.

There are other important signs of ICF Houston pride: each year more and more individuals explore and join our growing community of professional coaches.  Each year sponsors express growing confidence in our organization through their generous financial contributions that help support our innovative programs and exciting new initiatives.

Since 2002 ICF Houston has built a reputation as a community of purposeful professional coaches committed to making a difference - professionally and personally - through their talents, leadership, and service.

The ability to affect true change begins with a belief in the power of the individual and a vision of what can be. That is the essence of what our ICF Houston Chapter is all about. Our clients realize their full potential in partnership with our inspiring community of professional coaches as they explore their interests, develop their strengths as leaders and thinkers, and prepare for a lifetime of change and growth.

If you are among the generations of individuals who are personally and professionally committed to constant, and never-ending growth, and are committed to helping others achieving the same, let me extend a warm welcome to our community. For those who are just learning about our ICF Houston Chapter, I hope you will enjoy exploring our Web site. We look forward to introducing you to the great qualities and people you'll find in our ICF Houston Chapter.

Aaron Kaplan
