One of the most important skill sets a successful coach has is the ability to communicate effectively. Some coaches come into the field with natural communication skills. However, for most people, the key communication skills of active listening, empathizing, asking powerful questions, providing effective feedback, and clearly expressing themselves, are skills that have to be learned, reinforced, and practiced to become “natural.”

In this webinar, speaker, author, and communication blogger Amy Castro, will share five key critical communication skills for successful coaches:

  • Active listening skills that help you get to the real message a client is communicating
  • The power of empathy to build rapport and bridge to accountability messages
  • How to use effective questioning techniques to gather information, help clients problem solve, and more
  • Assertive communication skills that allow you to clearly communicate in a variety of situations, from providing direction to providing feedback

Amy is a recognized performance communication expert, speaker, author, and blogger. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the George Washington University and a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies/Human Communication Theory from the University of Northern Colorado. Message from our President

How does one measure the pride people feel for their professional organization?  I see it when our community gathers together each month for learning, networking, and support.  I feel and experience it in the spirit of commitment, volunteerism, and collaboration that exists amongst our talented board, and committees, and members who work tirelessly to create and implement the ICF Houston Chapter experience.

There are other important signs of ICF Houston pride: each year more and more individuals explore and join our growing community of professional coaches.  Each year sponsors express growing confidence in our organization through their generous financial contributions that help support our innovative programs and exciting new initiatives.

Since 2002 ICF Houston has built a reputation as a community of purposeful professional coaches committed to making a difference - professionally and personally - through their talents, leadership, and service.

The ability to affect true change begins with a belief in the power of the individual and a vision of what can be. That is the essence of what our ICF Houston Chapter is all about. Our clients realize their full potential in partnership with our inspiring community of professional coaches as they explore their interests, develop their strengths as leaders and thinkers, and prepare for a lifetime of change and growth.

If you are among the generations of individuals who are personally and professionally committed to constant, and never-ending growth, and are committed to helping others achieving the same, let me extend a warm welcome to our community. For those who are just learning about our ICF Houston Chapter, I hope you will enjoy exploring our Web site. We look forward to introducing you to the great qualities and people you'll find in our ICF Houston Chapter.
